Introduction
Google controls the search engine market as no other company in this field. The synonm “to google” or, in german “googlen”, has even been mentioned in the German Duden, and Googles success at the stock market in the last months has proven that it is not only possible to provide search, but also to gain profit out of its products.
Employees
Google consists of a multidude of different employees, as can be read in the interviews and promotion videos Google provides on their official weblogs. (link)
For example, employees can use 20% of their paid working time to work on ideas, these ideas are then sometimes tested in public in the so called “Google Laboratory”, which can be viewed and tested at http://labs.google.com/ and provides many interesting features not yet meant to be public.
Google is especially famous for its tennis court, volleyball field and the great buffet in their cantine. In fact, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin mentioned in many places that they are worried about their “geeks”, and they want to do everything in order to help their workers socialize and make new contacts.
Google Management
At the moment, Googles business is run by CEO Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which is called the so called Triumvirat of Google.
Nevertheless, since their first IPO (going public) in 2004, they are observed very closely by their share-holders and could be pushed to concentrate on profit more than on their search engine.
